Hound Point Terminal

The Hound Point Terminal, which is owned and operated by BP is located near the south shore of the river just to the east of the Forth Rail Bridge. The terminal consists of two jetties, which are utilised to export North Sea Oil via the Forties Pipeline System. Vessels up to 350,000 tonnes deadweight can be loaded at the terminal. Hound Point is the largest oil exporting facility in Scotland.

Three tugs, owned by BP, are continuously manned and stationed at the Terminal. Two of the tugs are 60 tonnes bollard pull and one is 120 tonnes bollard pull.

Braefoot Marine Terminal

The Braefoot Marine Terminal consists of two jetties, located on the north shore north of Incholm Island. Products produced at the Mossmoran Plant in Fife are exported at the Braefoot Marine Terminal. The west jetty, operated by Shell, handles Propane, Butane and Natural Gasoline with vessels up to 60,000m3 being accommodated. The smaller east jetty, operated by Exxon, exports condensate and ethylene in vessels up to 20,000 tonnes deadweight.

Towage (including a standby tug) is provided by our wholly owned subsidiary Forth Estuary Towage Limited (“FET”).

FET

FET owns and operates four Voith Schneider tugs, all of which are based at Leith. These tugs provide towage services for Leith, Rosyth, Crombie, Burntisland, Methil and the Braefoot Marine Terminal. The fleet consist of:

Fidra - 50 tonne bollard pull
Oxcar - 30 tonne bollard pull
Beamer - 19 tonne bollard pull
Seal Carr - 19 tonne bollard pull

All four tugs have varying levels of fire fighting capability and oil spill response equipment.
